Tottenham vs Liverpool – Preview
Premier League pace-setters Tottenham and Liverpool clash in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Saturday (12:30 ET) and we’re anticipating fireworks. Two of the Premier League’s unbeaten teams are set to serve up a super Saturday tea-time tussle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs have a new lease of life under Ange Postecoglou and twice came from behind against Arsenal to extend their unbeaten start to the season to seven matches.
They’ve been a far cry from the Tottenham of old that would crumble after conceding and spend large portions of the match patiently waiting for an opening on the break.
Their possession-based approach and lack of aversion to risk-taking on the ball have made for a great watch and produced some early-season classics.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool hope to become the first opponent to topple Spurs this season and in doing so, they may just need to become the first to concede fewer than two goals.
No side has breached the Reds more than once so far this season with only Chelsea (1-1) and Newcastle (1-2) holding them to fewer than three goals.
The fearsome attacking quartet of Salah, Nunez, Diaz and Jota have found the net 13 times so far this season, so it’ll take some effort to keep them quiet.
On the other hand, Spurs can draw hope from the fact they’ve kept just one clean sheet this season and have conceded in 17 of their previous 21 away league matches.
However, it is worth noting that not only are Liverpool unbeaten in 17 Premier League games, but they are also the only top-flight team that has yet to lose at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
We’re leaning towards Liverpool continuing their recent success against Spurs but whoever comes out on top, both teams should find the net in a thriller.
